1. Independent Contractor & Workshop Relationship
The Artisan operates as an independent seller and craftsman, not as an employee, franchisee, or joint-venture partner of Giftisan. The Artisan exercises exclusive control over workshop hours, techniques, raw materials, and creative methods, and remains solely responsible for local Egyptian tax registrations and municipal craft permits where applicable.
2. Handcrafted Authenticity & Prohibited Goods
Giftisan is exclusively dedicated to genuine Egyptian craftsmanship. Every listed item must be designed, handmade, finished, or customized by the artisan. Commercial mass-manufactured factory goods, dropshipped foreign imports (e.g., from generic wholesale markets), and counterfeit replicas are strictly prohibited. Listing unverified factory items constitutes immediate grounds for shop suspension without prior notice. Natural variations in handcrafted materials (wood grains, ceramic glazes, textile weaves) are celebrated hallmarks of authenticity, not defects.
3. Studio Operations, Lead Times & Courier Handover
Artisans must fulfill orders within their declared processing time. Ready-to-ship products must be packaged within 2 to 4 business days. For customized or made-to-order creations, the artisan must accurately specify realistic production timelines. When partner couriers arrive for collection, parcels must be securely packed with the Giftisan order code clearly marked. Repeatedly missing courier pickups damages buyer trust and may result in temporary listing deactivation.
4. Protective Packaging & Transit Liability
Handcrafted goods (ceramics, woodwork, glass, leather, and jewelry) require protective, drop-resistant packaging (corrugated cardboard, bubble wrap, corner guards). If an item arrives broken due to inadequate workshop packaging, the artisan is responsible for replacement or cost resolution. If an item is damaged despite proper packaging due to courier mishandling, Giftisan will advocate and file a carrier compensation claim on the artisan's behalf.
5. Pricing, 0% Founding Commission & Escrow Payouts
Artisans set their own product retail prices. For the 2026 season, registered Founding Artisans benefit from 0% Giftisan platform commission. Customer funds are collected securely through authorized gateways (Paymob, cards, wallets) or Cash on Delivery (COD) and held in escrow. Payouts are credited to the artisan's balance 7 business days following confirmed package handover to the client, and can be withdrawn anytime to InstaPay or Vodafone Cash.
6. Custom Orders, Returns & Dispute Mediation
Personalized or bespoke items (custom-engraved names, custom dimensions) cannot be returned due to buyer change of mind. If a buyer reports a defect or missing item within 48 hours of delivery, Giftisan provides impartial mediation. The artisan will have 48 hours to inspect photos and propose a free repair, replacement, or settlement.
7. Intellectual Property & Marketing Rights
Artisans retain 100% intellectual property and copyright ownership over their creations, designs, and brand marks. By publishing listings on Giftisan, the artisan grants Giftisan a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to feature studio photography, maker profiles, and product videos across social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook), email spotlights, and press campaigns to drive visibility to the artisan's shop.
8. Platform Integrity, Term & Termination
Artisans agree not to circumvent Giftisan by soliciting buyers to transact off-platform (e.g., private WhatsApp transfers) for sales initiated through Giftisan. Either party may terminate this agreement at any time upon fulfilling outstanding customer orders. Giftisan reserves the right to suspend or remove shops that violate authenticity rules, engage in harassment, or demonstrate persistent order non-fulfillment.
